Tune Up Your Hearing Aids for the Holidays!

Tune Up Your Hearing Aids for the Holidays!

The holidays are here, and that means spending time with family and loved ones. Those of us who wear hearing aids know just how much we rely on them to keep us in the conversation and make those “holiday hangouts” all the more enjoyable!

Whether you’re meeting up with people in person, over the phone, or through a video conference, your hearing aids will be crucial to getting the most out of the holiday season. Hearing aids help you hear more clearly and participate more easily in the conversation, with fewer miscommunications and less fatigue. What better time to get them tuned up and ready to function their best?

What’s a Hearing Aid Tune-Up?

Tune-ups are less than a repair, but more than daily maintenance. Over time, buildups of earwax, moisture, and environmental debris start to infiltrate our hearing aids and make them function a little less efficiently. This process happens slowly enough that we don’t notice it, but once the tune-up is complete you’ll be amazed at how much better your hearing aids sound!

  • Professional Cleaning – While you probably know to wipe your hearing aids down with a dry cloth at the end of the day, this process only goes so far. Over time, the nooks and crannies in your hearing aids will inevitably retain some debris. Our hearing care professionals will use a specialized vacuum to get the gunk out of the hardest-to-reach places in your hearing aids. They’ll dehumidify them to remove any moisture that may have built up inside, and disinfect them with ultraviolet light. This process not only improves their functioning in the short term but helps them last longer in the long term!
  • Performance Analysis – The performance analysis is conducted after cleaning and ensures that your hearing aids are, indeed, working as intended. This analysis might involve a listening test, diagnostic hearing assessment, and Real Ear Measurement. The report from your hearing aids’ performance analysis can help us to know whether any repairs, adjustments, or additional steps are necessary to ensure that your hearing loss is being treated as effectively as possible.
  • Repair – Where applicable, we may replace wax filters, tubes, silicone earpieces, etc. If we discover that a more significant repair is necessary, we will discuss this with you.

If you want to schedule a tune-up, or you require a hearing test or new hearing aids, call today to make an appointment and make sure to hear your best through the holiday season!
